Birds in Prague Zoo…

… and one unusual pair.

Altough the weather forecast promised sunny day the reality was quite opposite. Dark heavy clouds blocked all the sunlight and it was raining ocasionally. Not a perfect day for taking photos outdoors in a zoo. But I was already there so I gave it a try.

The Cinereous Vulture (Aegypius monachus) inhabits a huge aviary in Prague Zoo and this time it came really close to me.

Barbary macaque (Macaca sylvanus) on the back of barbary sheep(Ammotragus lervia). It looks like the macaques in Prague Zoo are lazy and also very resourceful. Let’s ride!

Statues on the Charles Bridge

Charles Bridge is the Prague’s oldest bridge and it connects Malá Strana and the Staré Město (the Old Town). The building of this bridge began in 1357 and the foundation stone was placed by the King Charles IV himself. The construction took many years and it was finished in 1402. It was originally called the Stone Bridge, or Prague Bridge, before being named Charles Bridge in 1870, after its founder. Charles Bridge is adorned with 30 stone statues of saints and personages, added between 1683 and 1928. Nowadays, all of these statues are only replicas.

The first statue in the photo is the statue of St. Cyril and St. Methodius, the next one is the statue of St. John the Baptist and the other one is the statue of Saints Norbert of Xanten, Wenceslas and Sigismund. In the background, there is the Prague Castle, which is hidden in a fog in this photo. The two visible towers in the background are the Mala Strana Bridge Towers.

Autumn Photos I

Here comes another collection of autumn photos. This time the weather was somehow cloudy and the sky was dark grey so there wasn’t much light but on the other hand it was a great opportunity to try some new things.

This photo is first try at improving one of my photos (from previous post). It is still not perfect but the samaras are now much sharper and the composition is better too.

Rowanberries is one of my favourites fall themes. I just love the colours of these berries, from dark red to bright orange.

This is like the first hint of autumn, single red leaf among green ones.

Again, it is the colours what I like about this photo and especially the combination of bright yellow and pink.

And the last one is little bit abstract.

Colours of Autumn II

More photos from yesterday when the sun was shining and there were no clouds on the sky and it was really beautiful view when I looked at all those colourful trees and bushes behind the house. I just couldn’t waste this great opportunity to take photos full of yellow, orange and red colours, which are typical colours for this season.
