Apple Cake

As I was taking photos for my 52 Week photo project, I found a good spot for this kind of photos so I also wanted to try it out on something else. And while I was planning on baking something sweet during the Sunday I therefore used this opportunity to take some photos of the result.

Just a couple of tips I found out that might be useful next time:
1) As there is fruit on the bottom of the cake, the baking paper tends to tear and it is good idea not to try to remove the baking form.
2) When I crumpled the baking paper a little bit it looks nicer than just a plain one.

52 Week Photo Project (update: week 16/52)

So I decided to submit 1 photo every week of this year, each week on different theme.

The first one was quite easy, as this period was a little bit longer (the 1st week of 2016 started on Monday 4th of January but I included also day from 1st to 3rd of January).

Week 1 – New
DSC_7211
New as in New Year Celebration. It is a tradition in our region to celebrate New Year with fireworks and when almost nothing else is usually celebrated in this way. The other idea for this theme was new moon but the sky was cloudy during the past week. I still could have taken a photo of a new moon behind the clouds though…

Week 2 – Cold
When the theme for this week is cold, the snow that fell last week is thawed. I will have to come up with something that does not include snow and ice.

It started snowing again! The bird’s claws must have been really cold after making so many foot clawprints in the snow.

Week 3 – Breakfast

Week 4 – Macro

Week 5 – Motion
And also a lesson in photo stealth.

Week 9 – Black and white
It was pure luck that it started snowing when the theme was black and white… black branches and white snow!

New Year Fireworks in Prague 2016

The official New Year Fireworks traditionally take place on the 1st of January. This year the fireworks were newly shot from hill Vitkov so I had to find another place from which I would have a nice view (in previous years, the fireworks were shot from hill Letna and I was on Vitkov). As the Letna would be crowded this year, I found another place, which turned out to be perfect. The view was really great and as a nice bonus not much people new about this place so I did not have to worry about too many people taller than my tripod.

Because of relatively low clouds (just like in the previous year), the rockets that flew the highest made an interesting effect when exploded. Only part of the explosion was visible. This was also caused by lots of smoke in the second half of the show.

So, this was the official fireworks. On the New Year’s Eve people shoot their own fireworks and therefore if you find a higher place you can see the colourful explosion all over the sky of Prague. Just like here:

But this was 3 years ago…

I took ordinary photos 2 years ago…

The fog was really thick 1 year ago…

This year I forgot my battery in the recharger at home… and the spare one as well.

Let’s hope that next year will be more successful.

Happy New Year to everyone!
