Exotic Butterflies in Prague Botanical Garden

“The Lightness of butterfly’s wings”, that’s the name of current exhibition in greenhouse Fata Morgana in Prague Botanical Garden. For about 5 weeks, the greenhouse is full of various species of exotic butterflies. I spent about two hours in the greenhouse and took lots of photos but due to not so good light conditions not many photos are as good as I would like. There were more species than is shown in this post but not all of them were willing to sit down where we could see them.

BTW, in my next article I will also post photos of flower from this greenhouse 🙂

I also tried to look up what are the species of butterflies on my photos, so you can find more information about them.

First day of Winter

As most of Prague residents were dealing with unavailable public transport and terrible traffic due to winter weather that came suddenly yesterday evening, not many of them noticed that the ice covered not only roads and rails, but also trees and shrubs. So I grabbed my camera and went out a bit earlier to be able to take some photos on my way to work in the morning.

It would be great if this weather conditions were during weekend. I would have all day to take photos, not only about 15 minutes in the morning. Maybe next time.

When Rain is Followed by Sun

April weather is always very unpredictible. One minute it is hailing and the next one the clouds are gone and the sun is shining. This is what was last Monday like here in Prague. When I came home from work, I was quite tired. Then I looked out of window and saw drops of water shining from ends of leaves and grass and I immediately knew it is time to grab my camera (which I keep fully charged with memory cards empty and therefore ready to go in no time) and go out. I suddenly felt full of energy as I enjoyed warm evening when the setting sun lit everything around me.

New Year Fireworks

There were official fireworks planned on the 1st of January, held by the municipal authority of Prague. And therefore I grabbed my camera, tripod and cable released and headed for Vitkov. Vitkov is quite a big hill in Prague with a former mausoleum (now it is museum) on top of it and it offers great views on centre of Prague, especially Prague Castle and Letná. And Letná is a park from which all the firework rockets were fired.

Late Afternoon in Prague Zoo – Part III

The weather these days is cold and sunny, only few degrees above 0 and that makes perfect conditions to go outside and take some photos. Yesterday, I went to Prague Zoo again, only about two hours before all the visitors would have to leave the zoo. And it was really cool, everything was lit with golden light, especially the exhibits on the southern hillside and there I took most of the photos. All these photos were taken when the sun was just above the horizon and therefore the colours are very warm.
