Panoramatic Norway

No matter if it is winter or summer, there are always opportunitites to take photos of the beautiful nature. And the great views are so tempting to be captured in all their width as a panorama.

One day we made a trip around island Kvaløya. Because of only couple of hours of light (or at least twilight), we managed to go around only part of the island. This is how noon looks like in December.

Unfortunately, it was getting dark very quickly when we got to Sommarøy island. So I took only a few photos, then we found one geocache hidden under snow and were on our way again.

The city of Tromsø. We took a cable car to the top of one of surrounding hills. The view from up there was great but the wind was so strong and cold. It felt like it was -20°C. I was also quite lucky because I took enough photos to make this panorama and then the batteries in my camera died due to the cold.

And finally, New Years Eve. Also it was our last night there. The greenish smudge across the sky are the Northern Lights.

When Rain is Followed by Sun

April weather is always very unpredictible. One minute it is hailing and the next one the clouds are gone and the sun is shining. This is what was last Monday like here in Prague. When I came home from work, I was quite tired. Then I looked out of window and saw drops of water shining from ends of leaves and grass and I immediately knew it is time to grab my camera (which I keep fully charged with memory cards empty and therefore ready to go in no time) and go out. I suddenly felt full of energy as I enjoyed warm evening when the setting sun lit everything around me.

First Spring Photos

Spring is the most beautiful season for me. I really like those new light green leaves on the trees and bushes, trees in blossom and various colourful flowers. And the spring is finally here. I enjoyed this first weekend when the weather was sunny and warm just right.

The apricot tree came into blossom recently and it’s branches were covered with white

Skiing in Alpes

Last week we had a great time skiing in Serre Chevalier area near town Briançon in French Alpes. As any other holiday, I just couldn’t leave my camera back at home. As we went through the Italy, we stopped at Lago di Garda to have lunch there and also to rest a little bit. The weather was warm and sunny and I took a lot of photos there (I will post some of them in one of next posts).

Fortunately I am quite used to skiing with backpack and therefore carrying camera with me wasn’t uncomfortable and I had it with me almost all the time. When we found a slope with light conditions good enough and without other people, we stopped for a while so I could take photos. So this is what it looks like when you take your camera to your skiing holiday and you try to take photos of skiers without any previous experience in sport photography:

And what I’ve learned? That having a telelens in my bag wouldn’t be a bad idea as most of these photos are cropped a lot, sunny weather for even shorter exposure times and…

5 Black and White Photos

I love colours in photography, I really do. But sometimes the missing colours allowes the viewer to focus on other aspects of the photo like symetry or repeating patterns or the texture of the subject. And exactly about that is my today post.

The first two photos were taken at castle Bečov and castle Loket.

Prague Zoo Again

Photos from my another visit to Prague Zoo. I arrived at the zoo at half past nine in hope that there will be almost nobody in the zoo and I would enjoy the calmness there and hear only the sounds made by all the animals. Mistake! At this time, which is time when zoo opens, there was already several hundreds people and the screaming children where almost everywhere.

The lioness called Aisha was unusually active this day. I usually see her sleeping in the back of the outside exhibit but today she was walking around it. Indian lion (Panthera Leo Persica).
